Hurricanes. Earthquakes. Wildfires. Tornadoes. Tsunamis. Floods. These are symptoms of a hurting world in need of physical and spiritual rescue. In light of recent natural disasters worldwide, we affirm that every affected person matters to IHC — and we pledge to meet the needs of, and bring Jesus to, wounded communities.
How do we respond to this need? First, we pray for the Holy Spirit to uplift survivors, and grant courage to relief workers. Second, we commit our resources to provide supplies for the afflicted, rebuilding their homes and lives. Lastly, we train and send teams of volunteers to aid in the “picking up” process, meeting and loving on those affected face-to-face. These steps boil down to our greater mission: pray. give. go.
• for families to reunite in the wake of the tragedy
• for the safety of first responders and rescuers
• for wisdom in local government and authorities
• for the comfort of those who have lost friends and family
• for grace within broken and hurting communities
• for your role in supporting relief efforts
“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” John 5:14
Beyond your regular giving, you can make special offerings to fund relief and reconstruction. Every dollar will go directly toward Next Step Storm’s rebuilding projects in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, restoring safe and sanitary housing for affected residents.
“I know it’s not a safe place to be, but … I don’t know where else I can go.” – Tosha Atibu, survivor
Hurricane Harvey was the worst natural disaster in Texas history, flooding much of Houston and surrounding counties in August of 2017. With floodwaters exceeding 50 inches in some areas, and losses estimated at $75 billion, IHC has partnered with our friends at Next Step Storm. Together, we will undertake repairs and service projects for homeowners whose resources and insurance can’t cover the damages to their house — all while sharing the gospel with the people we serve.
We are sending two teams to Texas to assist Next Step Storm in relief efforts:
Spring Texas Trip: April 23-28 | Basecamp set-up and service projects in the community
Summer Texas Trip: July 30-August 4 | Service projects in the community
Outreach projects like these develop a generous, bold faith in those who go. Help us offer disaster victims exactly what they need, at the time they need it most.
