Don’t All Religions Teach The Same Thing?

Don't All Religions Teach The Same Thing?
Sunday, May 31

*Note to leaders: This guide is designed to assist you and your group while growing in your relationship with Jesus together. As you prepare each week, feel free to prioritize questions or sections in this study guide, based on your group dynamic and needs.

MAIN POINT

Christianity stands apart from all other religions.

OPEN UP

What is your response to the concept that all religions tell us about life, ourselves, and what we should do?

MAKING THE UNKNOWN, KNOWN

Have someone read Acts 17:16-34

In verse 16 Paul mentions the city being filled with idols. Idols are substitutions for the truth of God. What means of worship or religious trends do you observe in our culture that you find distressing?

How did Paul use the existing interests and beliefs of the Athenians to tell them about Jesus? How did they respond?

Do you feel that people are actively seeking to know the truth about God? Are they complacent? Content? Simply not interested? Why?

How does following Jesus offer hope and fullness of life? How can Chrstians demonstrate the benefits of following Jesus to others?

Like Paul in Athens, what existing elements in our culture do you see as potential bridges to good news about Jesus?

THERE ARE MANY WAYS TO JESUS, BUT JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY TO THE FATHER

Have someone read John 14:6, John 8:24, Acts 4:12, and 1 Timothy 2:5-6.

Why is Jesus the only way? Why doesn’t God give each religious viewpoint access to salvation?

What are some things in Christianiaty that are different from all other religions?

How do the differences observed in Christianaity give you hope for what you believe?

How do you remain faithful to demonstrating Christ’s love when coming to an impasse with someone of a differing religious viewpoint?

APPLY

What can you do this week to help lead someone into a better understanding of the hope and truth about Jesus? What cultural bridges can you use to convey Christ’s love?

PRAYER

Thank you God for demonstrating your love for us. Thank you for Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Thank you that You know us and want us to know You. Please help us to convey your truth and love to those around us. Amen!
