Covid 19, wildfires, racial tension, political unrest, war: the last few years have felt relentless. It would be nice to have faith that history is headed somewhere, that our suffering isn’t wasted, that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. And yet faith is tricky: the suffering we experience and the versions of “God” we get handed can undermine the faith that would comfort. Is the God who Jesus invites us to follow good? Because no one wants to waste a good life on a bad god.
